Obituary:
After an illness of only a few days, Mrs. Lennie Rhodes died on last Thursday evening about seven o'clock at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. William Glanz in Liberty township. The immediate cause of her death was pneumonia.
Mrs. Rhodes was the daughter of George Smith and his wife, Esther Weaver, and was born near Delaware, O., March 12, 1855. She there passed her childhood and youth and there also married Isaac Rhodes on Nov. 19?, 1878. Her husband preceded her in death on August 7, 1931. Their married life, extending over the long period of more than 53 years, was a most happy one. In her youth the departed made profession of her Christian faith and remained a faithful and consistent Christian throughout her long life of almost 84 years.
For a short time after their marriage Mr. and Mrs. Rhodes lived in Kansas and then for brief periods in Wood county, O., near Weston,, and at Mason, Mich., but by far the greater part of her life, up to the time of Mr. Rhodes death and since then, in all, for a span of over 55 years, the deceased has lived in Henry county.
Mrs. Rhodes is survived and her death is deeply mourned by the following children: Mrs. John Wulff of Napoleon, Mrs. Harry Smith of Toledo, Clarence Rhodes of Delta, Perry Rhodes of Wauseon, Benjamin Rhodes of Toledo, Mrs. Vernie Klein of Napoleon and Mrs. William Glanz of Liberty Center; she is also survived by 32 grandchildren and 37 great-grandchildren.
The funeral services were conducted last Sunday afternoon at Wesche’s funeral parlors in Napoleon by Dr. Lankenau and interment was made in the liberty Center cemetery.
