Obituary:
Benjamin Harrison Rhodes, the son of the late Isaac and Lennie (Smith) Rhodes, was born Nov. 28, 1888, and departed this life some time during the night of Sept. 22 or early morning of the 23rd in his car parked west of the Damascus Bridge. He had attained the age of 64 years, 9 months and 26 days.
His earlier life was spent in farming. He trucked for a few years until he was injured by an accident which made any work almost an impossibility. Lately he hauled ice to Liberty Center and hauled the mail to and from the train. He also hauled scrap metal to Toledo.
He is survived by his three children: one daughter, Mrs. Franklin (Ruth) Leula, of Toledo; two sons, Robert, of Toledo, and Russell of Holland.
On April 30, 1949, he was united in marriage to Phoebe Dunmire of Liberty Center, who survives; also so one brother, Clarence Rhodes, of Napoleon; four sisters, Bessie Wulff, of Liberty Center; Bertha Ewing of Toledo, Amanda Klein and Josephine Glanz of Liberty Center, and other relatives and1 friends.
Services were held Friday, Sept. 25 at 2 p.m. at Young’s cemetery, with the Rev. David L. Eichar officiating.

Liberty Center Man Found Dead in Car
The body of Benjamin Rhodes, 64, of Liberty Center, was found in his car behind the Trucker’s Paradise restaurant at Damascus Bridge Thursday.
Olen Dunmire found the body when he saw a parked car and investigated. Friends said the man often parked at the restaurant while he went fishing in the river.
Dr. Thomas Quirlrt, Henry county coroner, said Mr. Rhodes had been dead two days and that death was due to natural causes.
Surviving are his wife, Phoebe; sons, Robert and Russell, and a daughter, Mrs. Frank Leuke, all of Toledo; sisters, Mrs. Bertha Ewing, Toledo; Mrs. Josephine Glanz, Mrs. Bessie Wolfe and Mrs. Amanda Kline, all of Liberty Center; brother, Clarence, Napoleon, and 13 grandchildren.
