Crystal Lenore Reed, 96, of Napoleon died Sunday, July 8, 2007, at The Lutheran Home at Napoleon.
Crystal was born April 22, 1911, in Liberty Center, where she was raised. She attended a one-room scboolhouse and Bowling Green University, where she received a teaching certificate and then taught in Fulton and Henry counties. Crystal served her country for two years with the WAVES during World War II in Florida and New York City.
In 1945, she married George Arthur Reed of Brooklyn, N. Y. They two children and lived in West New York, N.J. Following retirement they moved to Napoleon in 1976.
Survivors include, her children, George William Reed of Berkeley, Calif., and Beverly Reed of Kalamazoo, Mich.; a daughter-in-law, Sara Sauer Reed; a step granddaughter, Colleen Heffley; step great-grandchildren Caitlin, Allison and Austin Heffley; and seven nieces and nephews.
Crystal was preceded in death by her parents, Homer and Pearl Steward; sisters, Mary Nartker and Evelyn Smith, and a brother, Lowell Steward.
Visitation will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. – noon at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, where funeral services will begin at noon. Military rites conducted by Liberty Center V.F.W. Post #6596 and burial will follow at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
