Wilbur Calvin Overmier was born in Huron County, Ohio, March 9, 1850. He moved with his parents in 1852 to Jay County, Indiana, where they resided about 12 years, then moved to Henry County, Ohio. In early manhood he entered the mercantile business in Liberty Center, later he moved to Colton, returning to Liberty in 1894. About 14 years ago he sold his store and entered the employ of The Brown Stamping Company, Toledo, as a traveling salesman, and continued in their employ until his death, which occurred at Westfield, Wisconsin, on March 14, 1911, aged 61 years and 5 days.
On March 12, 1876, he was united in marriage to Mary A. Knauss, of Liberty Center, and to them were born two sons, both of whom died in infancy, and two daughters, Mrs. A. E. DeTray, of Troy, Ohio, and Mrs. M. B. Showman, of Liberty Center, who, with his wife, four grandchildren, two sisters and two brothers, and numerous relatives and friends are left to mourn their loss.
Mr. Overmyer was a man of sterling worth, best loved by those who knew him most intimately. He became a member of Texas I. O. O. F. Lodge March 11, 1873, and became a Past Grand January 11, 1876.
The funeral was held from the residence on Maple Avenue Saturday, March 18th, under the auspices of the I. O. O. F., rev. J. H. Albright officiating. Interment in Young’s Cemetery.
