Obituary:
Napoleon dentist Dr. Richard W. Overmier, D.D.S., 62, died at 11:42 p.m. Tuesday at Henry County Hospital, of an apparent coronary.
He was born September 14, 1921, in Liberty Center, to Howard and Oneita (Kigar) Overmier. On March 13, 1943, he married Donelda Ellinwood, who survives.
Also surviving are two sons, Gary, of Washington Courthouse, and Randy, at home; his mother, in Liberty Center, and five brothers, Marvin, of New Port Richey, Florida; Dr. James Overmier, Leipsic; Robert, of Archbold, and Milton and Paul, both of Liberty Center.
Dr. Overmier was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, Napoleon; Maumee Valley Dental Society; American Dental Association; Ohio State University Alumni Association and the OSU Dental Alumni Association; OSU Development Fund and Delta Sigma House Corps. He formerly held offices at St. Paul church and the Napoleon Lions Club and was active in the Shawnee Council of Boy Scouts of America.
A Liberty Center High School alumnus, he earned a bachelor’s degree from Bowling Green State University in 1948 and taught in the Bryan City Schools for three years. Dr. Overmier graduated from the OSU College of Dentistry in 1955.
A U S. Army veteran of World War II, he served three and one-half years in the Army Dental Corps.
Services will be held Friday, 2 p.m., at Walker Mortuary. The Reverend H. Glenn Crabtree will officiate, and burial will be in Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Friends may call at the mortuary after 2 p.m., Thursday. The family suggests any memorials be made to the church.
