Marvin L. Overmier, 89, an 11 year King's Ridge, Clermont, FL resident, passed away November 8, 2008. Marvin was born in Colton, OH to Howard and Oneita (Kigar) Overmier. He was the eldest of six boys. He graduated from Liberty Center High School in 1937 and served in the US Army, 20th Reconnaissance Squadron during WWII. Marvin retired in 1975 as 3-11 Floor Supervisor from the Toledo, Ohio Postal Service. In 1980 he and his wife, MaryLou moved to New Port Richey, FL to enjoy the Golden Years; to play golf, travel and play cards. Marvin was a member of the BayView Yacht Club, Veterans of Foreign Wars, the Hackers Golf Club, Grand Lodge of F&AM, Toledo-Ft. Industry Lodge #0144. He also attended many functions of the Clermont Masonic Lodge #18. He is predeceased by both of his wives, Arlene (Mann) and Mary Lou (Johnson/Faber), and also his brother, Richard (Donelda).
Survivors include his brothers, James Bryce (Jeanne), Milton (Beverly), Robert (Velma) and Paul. He is also survived by his stepchildren, Myra Juhasz and Robert M. Faber; 8 grandchildren, 7 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. Marvin's example of "Christian" living was being a true friend and never having an unkind word to say about anyone. This will long be remembered by all who knew and loved him. His family and friends will miss him.
Memorials may be made to Liberty Center High School Athletic Fund or Hospice of Volusia/Flagler County. Masonic Funeral Rites will be offered Saturday, November 22, at 2 p.m. in the Chapel of the Becker Family Funeral Home, Clermont, FL. A memorial service will be Dec. 6 at 11 a.m. at the Liberty Center United Methodist Church, with military rites accorded in Youngs Cemetery.
