Frank S. Overmier, 82, of Liberty Center, died Saturday morning at Defiance Hospital, following a brief illness.
A veteran teacher, he was born December 31, 1902, in Washington Township, to James I. and Gertrude (Smith) Overmier. He married Zora Murry on September 1, 1934, and she survives.
Mr. Overmier taught elementary and junior high math in the Liberty Center school district for 20 years. He taught for Oregon City Schools for 12 years and retired in 1967.
He was a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church and the Liberty Center Volunteer Fire Department. A Liberty Township trustee from 1952 to 1980, he served as chairman for several years.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter. Mrs. Kay Beilharz, Liberty Center; two sons, Stewart and Stacy, both of Liberty Center; a sister-in-law, Mrs. Bonita Overmier, Liberty Center; 12 grandchildren and two great-grandsons.
Preceding him in death were two brothers, Howard and Leslie, and a sister, Beryl Lanker.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, 2 p.m., at Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center. The Reverend Roselin Runnels will officiate, and burial will be in Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Friends may call after 7 p.m. tonight or after 2 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home. The Henry County Firefighters Association will hold a memorial service Tuesday at 7 p.m. The family suggests any memorials be made to the Liberty Center Volunteer Fire Department.
