Word has been received that former Henry County resident Bernard Overmier died Sunday at his home in Bradenton, Fla.
A graduate of Liberty Center High School and later a teacher there, he received his teaching certificate from Bowling Green State University. He also taught for a time at Clay High School in Oregon, Ohio.
He and his wife retired to Florida in 1970, where be assumed a second career as a teacher and supervisor at a correctional facility.
Surviving are his wife, Gertrude (Mires) Overmier; and four sons, Bill, Tom, John and Clare, and their families.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Bey and Dolly Overmier.
A memorial service is scheduled for Tuesday in Bradenton.
