A former well-known Liberty Center resident, Jacob Ohler, died on July 11, at the home of a son, Frank Ohler, in Tucson, Ariz. Mr. Ohler was 87 years old. During his residence in Liberty Center, Mr. Ohler operated a drug store.
Mr. Ohier was born in Germany and came to this country with his parents when he was five years old. The family settled in Fremont and when Mr. Ohler became a young man he operated a drug store in that city. Later he and his family moved to Liberty Center where he owned a drug store for many years.
He eventually entered into a partnership with his son, Lee, in Toledo.
At the time of his death, Mr. Ohler was the oldest living registered pharmacist who was registered under the old apprenticeship law in Ohio. He was the eighth druggist so registered in Ohio and his papers are hanging in the pharmacy room in the state house in Columbus.
He is survived by sons, Frank L., of Tucson; Theodore of Lawrenceburg, Ind.; and daughter, Mrs. Mabel Holcomb, of Atwood, Kans.; eight grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. His wife preceded him in death eight years ago.
Funeral services were held at Tucson. Ariz. Mr. Ohler's body was cremated and the ashes were sent to Liberty Center. Burial services will be held at Young’s cemetery, at 2:30 next Wednesday.
