Kathryn Russell, daughter of Millard and Mary Russell, was born in Liberty township, Henry county, Ohio, February 14th, 1885, and departed this life August 21st, 1927, aged 42 years, 6 months and 7 days.
Her early life was spent in preparation for teaching, which she carried on successfully for 5 years. On September 17th, 1907 she was united in marriage to Winfield S. Mohler. To this unionwere born five children, namely: Bernadine, Kenzie, Adrian, Demont, and Teddy; Kenzie having preceded her in death about 15 years. She leaves to mourn, father, mother, sister, brother, husband, four children, grandchild, and a host of friends and relatives, one sister having preceded her in death 3 years ago.
She was a loving wife, a devoted mother, an affectionate friend to all. The lover she had for her family could not be excelled. She united with Liberty Chapel, U. B. church, when but a girl, of which she was a faithful member, always a dutiful worker in church and Suday school, as long as health permitted. But in the past four years, poor health has kept her from the work she loved so well to do, both in church and for her family. A few weeks before her death she clipped from writer’s pen this poem, and requested it to be read for her last rites:
Crossing the Bar
Sunset and evening star, And one clear call for me! And may there be no moaning of the bar, When I put out to sea,
But such a tide as moving seems asleep, Too full for sound and foam, When that which drew from out the boundless deep Turns again home.
Twilight and evening bell, And after that the dark! And may there be no sadness of farewell, When I embark;
For tho' from out our bourne of Time and Place The flood may bear me far, I hope to see my Pilot face to face When I have crost the bar.
