John F. Nelson was born at New Philadelphia, Ohio, Dec. 10, 1857, and died at Battle Creek, Mich., Nov. 6, 1919, aged 81 years, 11 mo. and 25 days, his death being due to heart failure.
The remains were brought to his home near Liberty Center, Ohio, where funeral services were held on Saturday, Nov. 8th, Rev. Scott P. Hershey, of Napoleon, officiating.
Mr. Nelson had been an efficient and trusted employe of the International Harvester Company for many years. He was a man of winning personality and during his residence in this community had made many warm friends. He is survived by his wife, Mrs. Nan Nelson, one son, Virgil Nelson, of Elkhart, Ind., three daughters, Mrs. Walter Lash, of Kansas City, Mo., Mrs. H. P. Meyers, of Omaha, Neb., and Miss Jessie Nelson, of Detroit, Mich., also a foster daughter, little Jane Eddy, of Liberty Center.
Members of Liberty Center F. & A. M. Lodge, of which order Mr. Nelson was a member, acted as escort at the funeral. Interment was made in Young’s cemetery.
