Mary L. Nartker Kitter Sept. 19, 1914 - Dec. 30, 1999
Mary Kitter, 85, of Liberty Center died early this morning at her daughter’s residence.
Born Sept. 19, 1914, in Liberty Center, she was the daughter of Homer and Pearl (Dieble) Steward. On May 28, 1937, she married Donald Nartker, who preceded her in death on April 24, 1975. She then married Lawrence Kitter on Oct. 18, 1979, and he preceded her in death on March 29, 1999.
She graduated from Bowling Green Normal School in 1934 and was a third-grade teacher at Liberty Center Elementary School and York Elementary School of Delta, retiring in 1970. She was a member of Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church of Liberty Center, Henry County Retired Teachers Association and Fulton County Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by two daughters, Jean Williams of Holgate and Mary Jane Murrey of Liberty Center; two sons, Kenneth Nartker of Decatur, Ill., and James Nartker of Twinsburg, Ohio; a stepdaughter, Mary Ann Glanz of Rancho Santa Fe, Calif.; two sisters. Crystal Reed and Evelyn Smith, both of Napoleon; 12 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; four step grandchildren; and four step great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by a stepdaughter, Norita Jane Nielsen; two brothers, Lowell and Blaine Steward; and two sisters, Thelma and Bonnie Steward.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church, Rev. Lynn Huffman officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery of Liberty Center.
Visitation will be Sunday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Wright Funeral Home of Liberty Center.
The family suggests memorials be made to Hospice of Henry County, Rainbow Oncology Unit at the Fulton County Health Center or Liberty Chapel United Methodist Church.
