Thirty-five days short of his ninth birthday, Jeffrey Myers, son of Mr. and Mrs. Don Myers of RFD 2, Liberty Center, Ohio, died in the Detwiler Memorial Hospital at Wauseon Wednesday, Aug. 16, shortly after arriving there. Although the results of the autopsy are not yet available, the doctors believed encephalitis was the cause of death.
Services were held in the Walker Funeral Home, Napoleon, Saturday, with the Rev. Frederick W. Haley officiating. Burial was in Young’s Cemetery at Liberty Center.
Jeffrey was in the third grade at Liberty Center School. He was a member of the Colton Methodist Junior Choir and an honor student in the Church School. Jeffrey loved to play baseball, and as a member of the Little League White Sox played short-stop. Close friends of Jeffrey and his brothers asked to be pallbearers. They were Gary Crawford, James Krueger, Jon Glanz and Terry Reece.
Surviving are his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Don Myers; two brothers, Richard and Jon Myers; paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Joe Myers; maternal grandfather, Warren Sharp, all of Liberty Center. A great-grandmother, Mrs. Sarah Sharp of Monclova, O., remains on the maternal side.
