Marguerita "Rita" Mires, 89, of Liberty Center died Friday at St. Luke's Hospital, Maumee.
Born April 17, 1916, in Piedmont, Ohio, she was the daughter of Clyde W. and Victoria (McCullough) Miller. On June 15, 1942, she married John Kingsley "King" Mires, who preceded her in death April 5, 2002.
She attended Maryville College in Tennessee and graduated from the Ohio State University. She was a fifth-grade teacher for 30 years at Huron, Ai and Liberty Center. She was a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church, Henry County Retired Teachers Association, Ohio Retired Teachers Association and National Retired Teachers Association.
She is survived by a daughter, Karen (Gus) Inks of Swanton; a son, Craig (Marsha) of Lima; two grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Robert Miller.
Services will be 11 a.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, Pastor David MacDonald and Cecily Rohrs officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to Liberty Center Library or Henry County Retired Teachers Foundation.
