Mrs. Leona C. Mires, 67, passed away at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bernard Overmier, on Tuesday.
She was born on May 15, 1885, in Preble county, and spent most of her life as a school teacher. She was a graduate of Defiance College and a member of the Eastern Star and Past Matrons’ club.
Her husband, Eugene, passed away on Oct. 13, 1950. She is survived by four children: Mrs. Margie Spiess, Archbold; Mrs. Gertrude Overmier, Liberty Center, and Philip and Wilson, of this place; and four grandsons.
Funeral services will be conducted today (Thursday) at 2 p.m. from the Walter’s funeral home in Liberty Center, with burial in Young’s cemetery. The Rev. David Eichar will officiate.
The Eastern Stars will attend the services in a group.

Leona Conley Mires, wife of Eugene P. Mires (deceased) was born in Preble county, O., May 15, 1885, a daughter of Oliver and Ellen Conley, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Bernard Overmier, June 24, 1952, aged 67 years, one month and nine days.
Her girlhood was spent in the county of her birth and where she graduated from high school. The deceased graduated from Defiance College with the class of 1912 and was at once engaged to teach English and Latin in the Liberty Center schools, which position she resigned to marry Eugene P. Mires on Sept. 27, 1918.
Four children were born of this union: two daughters, Mrs. Marjorie Spiess, of Archibold; Mrs. Bernard Overmier, of Liberty Center; two sons, Philip, of Liberty Center, and Wilson, of Springfield, O.
Leona was a' member of St. John’s Reformed church and a member of the Golden Rule class of that Sunday school. She was a member and past matron of the Eastern Stars.
Leona Mires was a devout Christian and devoted wife and mother, an excellent neighbor and loyal friend.
Her husband had suffered a stroke of paralysis and was bedfast for eight months before his death and she gave him every care and attention. To her, "Love and cherish in sickness and health” was not an idle promise.
Her clay lies here but her spirit has returned to the God who gave it.
She is survived by the above named children and other relatives and a host of friends.
Funeral services were conducted from the Walter funeral home Thursday, June 26 at 2 p.m., the Rev. David L. Eichar officiating. Burial was in Young's cemetery.
