Hannah Sloan Mires, daughter of David and Sarah Landis Sloan, was born in Franklin county, Ohio, December 29, 1831, and did at her home in Liberty Center, Ohio, July 18, 1922, aged 90 years, 6 months and 19 days.
She was married to James Mires in 1849. Nine children were born to them, eight sons and one daughter. Six sons grew to manhood, William and Samuel dying six and five years ago.
Mother and father lived in Franklin County until the spring of 1874 when they moved to Henry County, father dying the following fall. Mother has resided in Henry County 50 years and in Liberty Center 35 years.
Funeral services were held at the home on Thursday, Rev. D. E. Martz of Spencerville, Ohio, and Rev. W. A. Alspach of Bluffton, Indiana, officiating, both former pastors of St. John’s Reformed Church of this place, of which mother has been a member 40 years. Interment and Young cemetery beside the husband and father who had gone on many years before, her four sons and two grandsons serving as pallbearers.
