Obituary:
David W. Mires, 68, of Findlay, died Friday, Aug. 4 in Riverside Methodist Hospital, Columbus.
He was born May 4, 1921 in Liberty Center the son of John S. and Emma (Crozier) Mires. He married Rolla L. McMaster on Oct. 28,1950 and she survives.
Mr. Mires was a design engineer for Cooper Tire and Rubber Co. in Findlay. He was a member of the Cooper 25 Year Club, president of the Ohio Northern Chapter of the Ohio Society of Registered Professional Engineers and a founder and former president of the Hancock County Humane Society.
He was a graduate of Ohio State University in 1943 and played football for two years at OSU. He was a member of the Liberty Center High School Athletic Hall of Fame.
Surviving, besides his wife, are a son, David Betts, of Findlay; daughters, Lucinda E., of Findlay, Mrs. Dennis (Laurie) Brown, of Park Forest, Ill., and Mrs. R. Michael (Melissa) Gephart, of Findlay; a brother, John K. Mires, of Liberty Center; and a sister, Mrs. Cecil (Hannah) Strock, of Liberty Center; and six grandchildren.
Services were held Monday, Aug. 7 in the College First Church of God in Findlay with Rev. William Croy, Jr., officiating. Interment was in Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
The Coldren-Crates Funeral Home, of Findlay, was in charge of arrangement.
