Rev. William J. Miller was born in Liberty Center, O., May 15, 1900, the son of the late Mr. and Mrs. John S. Miller. He died suddenly on Oct. 28 in St. Helena, Ore.
He graduated from Ohio Northern University and the Boston Theological Seminary. He served as a pastor in Methodist churches for 27 years. In 1954 he was called to the National Board of Missions in the Finance and [smudged] Service with headquarters out of Philadelphia, Pa. He served 12 years in this capacity.
At the annual conference at Lakeside in June, he retired. In September, at Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, he retired from the Board of Missions as a full-time director, but continued as part-time. In this capacity he was doing four jobs on the West Coast.
He had just arrived to do his last job in St. Helena, Oregon, before going to Hawaii when he was stricken. He is survived by his wife, Adeline; sons, Cmdr. Roger J. Miller of Hawaii; A/2c Robert J. Miller of Montgomery, Ala., and three grandchildren; brothers, Rogers L. Miller of Liberty Center, O., and Lawrence C., of Orient, O.; a dear aunt, Grace Rogers, and other relatives and many friends.
