Tilghman Miller was born in Lehigh county, Pa., Nov. 23, 1826, died at Liberty Center, Ohio, February 22, 1913, aged 86 years, 2 months, and 29 days.
on December 25, 1846, he was united in marriage to Angeline Vogel, and to this union were born seven children, four boys and three girls. His wife and two of the daughters preceded him to the better world.
In the spring of 1863 Mr. Miller brought his family from Pennsylvania to Seneca County, Ohio, and in the fall of the same year he moved to Henry County 1 1/2 miles southwest of Liberty Center. He came here when this country was new. The farm he settled on had 40 acres cleared and from their farm he cleared the timber and the stumps of 110 acres. He had a good idea of farming, and especially of corn raising, in which he took great delight.
Mr. Miller became quite a noted man in the county, and in the spring of 1873 he was elected to the office of county commissioner, in which capacity he served the people well for three years. For several years he dealt in agricultural implements. He was a kind and accommodating neighbor and always ready to lend a helping hand.
in 1877 Mr. Miller, under the labors of Rev. A. E. Baichley, united with the Reformed church and for the last 35 years he has been a faithful member.
He leaves to mourn his departure five children: Mrs. Keturah MIres, Franklin Pierce; Alfred; John Tilghman and Daniel Cyrus. Also 19 grand-children, two brothers and many other relatives and friends.
