John S. Miller, son of the late James D. and Mary Snyder Miller, is one-of three children, born on Jan. 8, 1876, and departed this life at the home of his son, Rogers, on Feb. 24, 1956.
On Sept. 29, 1953, he suffered a heart attack which he was never able to overcome. For these 20 months except for a few weeks spent in the Heller Memorial hospital, Napoleon, he was at home with his son and family. He had reached the age of 80 years, one month and 16 days.
On June 21, 1899, he was united in marriage with Amy Rogers, and to this union were born four children: William, of Grove City, Clarence, who died at the age of 11; Rogers, of Liberty Center; and Clarence, of Orient, O.
For the greater part of their lives they lived in the Liberty Center vicinity except for fifteen years spent in Fulton county from 1930 to 1945. Here they made many friends in the Taylor Methodist church and vicinity.
In 1903 he and Mrs. Miller united with the Liberty Center Methodist church.
They celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on June 21, 1949. Death took Mrs. Miller March 1950.
Mr. Miller was a farmer and [cut off] and followed the latter occupation for 52 years. He was a member of the Modern Woodmen, the Odd Fellows lodge, and for a number of years served the Liberty Center fire department.
Besides the above named children he is also survived by five grandchildren, one great-grandchild, and other relatives and friends.
Services were conducted from Liberty Center Methodist church on Feb. 27 at 1:30 p.m., the pastor, David L. Eichar, officiating. Burial was in Young’s cemetery, with the Boyer-Walker mortuary handling the arrangements.
