Walter William 'Mac' McClure, 78, of Liberty Center, owner and operator of McClure's Market in Liberty Center from 1949 to 1971 died Wednesday, June 24 in Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
Prior to owning the market, he worked at Continental Motors in Detroit, Mich.
Mr. McClure was a member and past commander of the Gilbert-Baughman Post 492 of the American Legion, and a former member and past president of the Liberty Center Rotary Club. He was also an Army Air Force Veteran of World War II.
He was born July 19, 1919 in Bryan, the son of John Elmer and Margaret (Hiler) McClure. He married Doris Bankus and she died in 1970.
Surviving are, sons, James McClure, of Liberty Center, and John McClure, of Holland; sisters, Pauline Thompson, of Toledo, Carolyn Willford, of Elery, Alma McKinnon, of Defiance, Margaret Crawford, of Milton Center, and Joan Groll, of Lexington; brothers, Richard McClure, of Fremont, Ind., and Roy McClure, of New River, Az.; and granddaughters, Robin McClure, of Maumee, and Heather McClure, of Toledo.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Gretchen Shroyer, and brothers, John and Paul McClure.
Services were held Saturday, June 27 in the Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, with Pastor William Thompson, of St. Paul Lutheran Church, Liberty Center, officiating. Interment was in Youngs Cemetery.
