Ella Edna Roberts was born near Hillsdale, Mich., on Sept. 29, 1881, and departed this life on Jan. 6, 1946, at the age of 64 years, 3 months and 8 days.
She was the oldest daughter of Frank W. and Cinda B. Roberts, who with one brother, preceded her death.
On Oct. 23, 1903, she was united in marriage with Guy Elton Matthews, who, with one son, Lawrence Matthews, and a sister, Mrs. R. A. Tripp, survive.
Practically all of her married life was spent in this community, among her many relatives and friends, where she was affectionately called “Aunt Ella."
She was a member of St. John's Reformed church, where until recently, she was an active worker among the children of the Sunday school. She was also a member and Past Worthy Matron of the Eastern Star lodge. Her kind ways endeared her to all who knew her, and although she is gone - “To live in the Earth we leave behind is not to die."
