Alonzo ‘Lonnie’ Slee, 89, of Delta died Thursday at his home.
Born Sept. 23, 1904, in Delta, he was the son of Charlie C. and Druscilla (Frankforther) Slee. On Aug. 23 1924, he married Flossie J. Davis, who preceded him in death June 11, 1982.
He worked as a welder for Jeep in Toledo for 43 years, retiring in 1966. He was a member of the Colton United Methodist Church, Delta Eagles, Grand Rapids Sportmen's Club and was formerly the noble grand for the I.O.O.F. of Liberty Center. He played violin for dances and was an avid polka dancer.
Surviving are three daughters, Gladys Nash of Delta, Nina Merillat of Adrian, Mich., and Trudy Baumbarger-Young of Port Clinton; three sons, Robert of Goetzville, Mich., James of Napoleon and John of Liberty Center; a brother, Dale of Wauseon; 15 grandchildren; six step-grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; several step-great-grandchildren; several great-great-grandchildren; several step-great-great-grandchildren; and a special friend, Marie Murray.
Preceding him in death were four sisters, Mavis, Ethel and Millie Slee and Mamie Pearl; four brothers, Marvin, Homer, Gilford and Charles Jr.
Services will be held at 11 a.m. Monday at Wright Funeral Home in Liberty Center, Rev. Martin Dedes officiating. Interment will follow at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center.
Friends may call from 7 to 9 p.m. Saturday and 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, where the I.O.O.F. will hold a service at 7 p.m. Saturday.
