Charles Henry Kessler, son of John and Catharine Kessler, was born Oct. 7, 1869, on the Henry-Fulton county line in Henry county, O., and was baptized by Rev. H. H. Sandoe, a Reformed minister, March 4, 1870.
He was born, raised to manhood on the old home place less than a mile from his place of departure. He lived in this community all of his life, except four years which were spent near Elery and Delta, O.
He was united in marriage to Cora Estella Laver Nov. 21, 1893, and to this union were born six children, three boys and three girls; three girls and one boy having preceded him to a better place of abode.
At one time he was a member of the German Reformed church of Liberty Center, O., and owing to the absence of a minister became a little negligent but never lost faith in the cause, nor hope for his future peace and happiness. This spring he again renewed his covenant with his Maker.
He leaves to mourn his departure, his faithful wife, Cora; two sons, Rollin LeRoy and George Vernon; five grandchildren, and a host of friends and relatives.
He is the last of the old Kessler family of nine children who settled in this community in an early day.
He passed away at his home north of Liberty Center on Route 109 Aug. 13, 1939, at the age of 69 years, 10 months and 6 days.
Funeral services were held at the Reformed church Tuesday afternoon, the Rev. D. E. Fredrick officiating.
