Robert Johnson, 80, of Swanton died Sunday at his residence.
Born Feb. 15, 1918, in Chicago, Ill., he was the son of Frank and Edna (Holmes) Johnson. On July 22, 1947, he married June Johnson, who survives.
He served in the U. S. Army during World War II. He worked in the building trades and was president of Ability Home Improvement Co. in Chicago. He became the director of building and zoning for the City of Lake Forest, Ill., retiring in 1976. In 1977, he became building commissioner for the City of Napoleon. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church of Liberty Center, where he served as a member of the stewardship committee. He was also a member of the Bert G. Taylor Post #300 of the American Legion of Napoleon.
He is also survived by a son, Ross of Swanton; and two grandchildren.
Services will be 10 a.m. Wednesday at St. Paul Lutheran Church of Liberty Center, Pastor William Thompson officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery of Liberty Center, where military services will be conducted by the joint veterans posts of Napoleon.
Visitation will be from 5:30-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Wright Funeral Home.
The family suggests memorials be made to the building fund or equity fund of the church or Fulton County Hospice.
