Leland Orville Johnson, son of Leonard and Lucy Johnson, died at the Wauseon hospital, March 23rd, aged 16 years, 9 months and 23 days. Born at Texas, Ohio, on Decoration Day 1917 his entire life was spent in this community.
He was a sophomore at Liberty High School, a member of the Hi-Y, of the Agriculture Class, and of the Texas Community Club. The loss to the community is great, for this young man surely would have become a useful, influential citizen.
Though the span of his years was short, his life was not in vain, for he left a fine example of honesty, courage, cheerfulness, friendliness and a genuine desire to be helpful. Let us all who loved this boy so well carry on these virtues he so truly exemplified.
With father and mother, there are left two sisters, Lucile and Lillian and Uncle Walter in the immediate family. Also two grandfathers, C. A. Johnson and Charley Showman, a grandmother, Mrs. Charles Showman, many near relatives, and friends numbered only by the limits of his acquaintance.
