LIBERTY CENTER - R. Aubrey Jennings, 78, retired president of the former Liberty Center State Bank, collapsed at his home yesterday and died at Henry County Hospital, Napoleon.
He had not been well since one of his lungs was removed three months ago. His death was attributed to congestive heart failure, said his wife, Kathryn Jennings.
A lifelong resident of Liberty Center and a graduate of the former Tri-State College, Toledo, Mr. Jennings had been a banker 37 years, working his way up from assistant cashier, said his wife.
He filled various positions at the bank, retiring as president in 1981.
He was a World War II veteran and a charter member of the Liberty Center American Legion and the Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Mr. Jennings was a member of the Liberty Center United Church of Christ and a lifetime member of the Liberty Center Sportsman Club.
He liked to fish, his wife said, but otherwise had few outdoor hobbies. Following retirement, he and his wife of 56 years spent many of their winters in Texas.
Surviving are his wife, Kathryn Jennings; daughter, Nancy Jennings-Spahn; a nephew, and one granddaughter.
Services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday in the Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, where the body will be after 2 p.m. tomorrow.
The family suggests that any contributions be to a charity of the donor's choice.
