Alice M. Howell, only daughter born to Mr. and Mrs. C. Packham, was born at Guelph, Canada, and departed this life at the home of her son, Elwood P., at Defiance, Ohio, Sunday morning, September 21, 1924, aged 58 years, 11 months and 1 day. Funeral services were held at the home in Liberty Center Tuesday of this week and interment made in Young’s cemetery.
Mrs. Howell (nee Packham), came to Liberty Center with her parents in the fall of 1887 and was united in marriage with William G. Howell on December 16, 1890. Elwood P. was the only child born to them. The husband passed to the great beyond in March 1913.
Father, mother and two brothers having proceeded her in death, Mrs. Howell was the last of the Packham family.
Mrs. Howell was a most estimable lady, having resided in Liberty Center continually since coming here with her parents. She was widely known. She was a music teacher and at the time she was taken ill had a class of 40, composed largely of children, each and every one of whom was devoted to her. A beautiful floral piece bore the names of 20 of these child pupils.
Deceased was a member of the Methodist Episcopal church of this place and very active in church, Sunday school and musical circles, ever ready and willing to do her full share and much more.
Funeral services were conducted by Rev. Albertson, of Rossford, assisted by Rev. Beaschler of this place.
