Lydia Gooding, daughter of Josiah and Amelia Gooding, was born in Seneca county, Ohio, July 23, 1838, and died at her home in Liberty Center, O., January 23, 1917, aged 78 years and 6 months.
The deceased was united in marriage with Augustus Hoppes, on May 14, 1857. To this union were born four daughters, three of whom are still living: Mrs. Jennie Jackson, of Grelton, O., Mrs. Martha Ballard and Mrs. Zella Cox of Liberty Center, O. The third daughter, Clara, having died May 2, 1869 at the age of five years.
Deceased was one of a family of ten children, only one of whom is now living, John Gooding of Tiffin, Ohio.
She leaves to mourn her departure a devoted husband, one brother, three daughters, ten grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren, besides many other relatives and a host of friends.
