Andrew S. Hoffman, son of Daniel and Margaretha Hoffman, was born in Clear Creek township, Fairfield county, Ohio, March 15, 1831, and was christened May 15, 1831 by Rev. I. Leist. Died at his home west of Liberty Center, O., May 30, 1910, aged 79 years, 2 months and 15 days.
Mr. Hoffman was married four times, his three wives preceding him to the unseen beyond. First to Eliza Cossel, in 1851. To them were born two children. Second to Reecca Leist. To them was born one son, who died In infancy. Third, to Christy Pontious, May 11, 1865. To them were born nine children, three of whom died in infancy. Four sons and two daughters survive him. Fourth, to Elizabeth Bolender, May 19, 1901, who survives him. He leaves to mourn, a faithful, loving wife, four daughters, two sons, two stepsons, twenty-eight grandchildren, four great-grandchildren, a brother and a very large circle of other relatives and friends.
He was converted in the Evangelical church at an early age, and many years ago united with the Christian Union at Hebron Chapel, remaining faithful until death.
He was a member of the I. O. O. F., first at Delta, later transferring to Liberty Center, remaining a faithful member of the same until his departure to the Grand Lodge above. The Order showed their loving appreciation of their departed brother by attending the funeral almost to a man.
Funeral at Hebron Chapel, west of town, Wednesday, June 1st, at 2 p. in., conducted by the order. George Tester, undertaker. Rev. W. H. Baker, of McClure, a former pastor and loved friend, delivered the funeral address. Internment in Young’s cemetery.
