Funeral Services Held Wednesday for Margaret Estella Whiteman
Margaret Estella Bonnell Whiteman, daughter of Jacob T. Bonnell and Sarah Ann Norris Bonnell, widow of Herbert Lincoln Whiteman, was born in Seneca County, Ohio, Oct. 14, 1870. She died in her sleep at Bonnells Corners at her farm residence near Liberty Center, on Sunday morning, Dec, 23.
The Chapel parishioners on last Oct. 14 joined with Mrs. Whiteman at the Chapel in celebrating her 92nd birthday.
She was a devoted member of the original Chapel and served as its first organist.
She attended the Wauseon Normal School and taught at both the Reed and Bonnell schools.
She was a skilled needle worker, having been taught in the art by a professional seamstress. In their younger years, she and Mr. Whiteman did landscape painting in oil.
Mrs. Whiteman took great pride in her home and family and labored long and hard for her loved ones.
She leaves to mourn her passing: four daughters, Norma Whiteman McClarren, Marorie and Helen Whiteman, and Gertrude Whiteman Murdock; five grandchildren, Mrs. A. Wayne White, Houston,Texas; Robert R. McClarren, Indianapolis, Ind., and Richard, Herbert, and Thomas Murdock of Liberty, Center, O. In addition she leaves ten great-grandchildren.
Services were held in Liberty Chapel Church at 2 p.m. Wednesday, with burial in Young Cemetery.
