Services were held Friday at 2 p.m. in the Walker mortuary, Napoleon, for Charles Heist, 78, who died at the Henry County Home.
Mr. Heist was a lifelong resident of the Liberty Center area, and is survived by a brother, Grover, of Liberty Center, and sister, Zora, of Arizona.
Burial was in Young’s cemetery.
Obituary:
Charles Franklin Peter Heist was born June 2, 1876, one of nine children of John Peter Heist and his wife, Susanna Wieser Heist, in Henry county.
He was baptized on July 17, 1876 by the Rev. Mkel [sic]. Mr. Heist was a laborer and worked for various people throughout this area.
He is survived by one brother, Grover, of Liberty Center, and one sister, Zora, of Arizona.
For the past few years he was afflicted with ailments and some months ago he was taken to the Heller Memorial hospital, Napoleon, where it was discovered that his right leg would have to be amputated. Several weeks later he was removed to the Henry County Home where he remained until death came on Feb. 21.
Funeral services were conducted from the Boyer-Walker mortuary; with the Rev. David L. Eichar, pastor of the Liberty Center Methodist circuit, officiating. Interment was in Young’s cemetery.
