Naoma W. Heilman, 89, a former Liberty Center resident, died Friday at the Heartland of Wauseon Nursing Home.
Born in Mark Center, Ohio, Oct. 22, 1901, she was the daughter of William and Etta (Hill) Lovejoy. On Aug. 11, 1924, she married Harve W. Heilman, who preceded her in death March 28, 1980.
A graduate of Bowling Green Normal and Defiance colleges, she taught elementary school at the first, second and sixth grade levels in Liberty Center for 38 years, retiring in 1971. She was a member of the Liberty Center United Methodist Church, where she had formerly served as Sunday school superintendent, director of the Junior Choir and member of the Sunday school orchestra. She was a lifetime member of O.E.S. Pacific Chapter #63, had been a volunteer with the American Cancer Society in Henry County and a member of the Liberty Center Library Board.
Surviving are a daughter, Beverly Schlatter of Wapakoneta; a son William of Liberty Center; six grandchildren; and six great-grand-children.
Also preceding her in death were two sisters Goldie Maag and Ruth Culler; and a grandson, Billy Jay Heilman.
Services were scheduled for this afternoon at 1:30 in the Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center, with Rev. Jerry Lewis officiating. Interment was to follow at the Youngs Cemetery.
