Uriah Hagans was born in Lancaster county, Pa., Oct. 30, 1850, died Feb. 2, 1910, aged 59 years, 3 months and 2 days. When but a child he moved with his parents to Ohio, where he has since lived, spending the last thirty-five years of his life in Liberty Center, O. At the early age of seventeen he gave his heart to God and has been His faithful follower until called to his reward. He was united in marriage to Nancy E. Devault in 1874 and to this union were born three children, one who with its mother has preceded him to the Heavenly home. In the year 1884 he was again married to Rilla Weaver of McClure. To this union was born one son, Clyde. For the last eighteen years Mr. Hagans has made his livelihood by giving musical entertainments and was widely known throughout the country. He was also a member of the K. O. T. M. Lodge of Coshocton and his many friends will be as greatly shocked by the news of his death as were the loved ones of his immediate home. While very ill for some time death came when least expected and, though a great sufferer it served only to draw him nearer to his Savior and he often said, ‘This is nothing compared to that which our Redeemer suffered.’ He leaves to mourn their loss, a loving companion, three sons, one stepdaughter, an aged father, five sisters, three brothers and hosts of other relatives and friends.
