Thelma Guyer March 31, 1919-Feb. 5, 2009
Thelma Marie Guyer, 89, of Liberty Center, died Thursday, Feb. 5. 2009, at Country View Haven.
Thelma was born March 31, 1919, in Napoleon, to the late Daniel and Ida (Saneholtz) Yamell. She married Robert G. Guyer on Nov. 23, 1940, and he died on Feb. 3, 1996.
One son, Robert Howard Guyer; great-grandson, Aaron Ripke; four brothers, Fred, Leonard, Lester and Richard Yamell; two sisters, Norma Dietrich and Ruth Hatcher; and two brothers in infancy, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Guyer was a farm wife and worked as a bookkeeper at Community Bank in Napoleon for 20 years. A glassware expert, she and her husband also operated Turkey Foot Antiques in Liberty Center.
A 1937 graduate of Napoleon High School, Thelma was a member of Liberty Center United Methodist Church and Order of Eastern Star Pacific Chapter 63. She enjoyed playing cards with friends and will be remembered for being very determined as well as thoughtful, loving and giving.
Surviving are four daughters, Barbara (Jim) Shambarger and Betty Rising, both Liberty Center, Rebecca (Charlie) Cleneay, Houston, Texas, and Carol (Stephen) Asher, Sherman Oaks, Calif.; son, Steven (Karen) Guyer, Liberty Center; daughter-in-law, Ruth Guyer, Liberty Center, 15 grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Sunday at her church with the Rev. Don Hague presiding. Interment Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center. Visitation is Saturday from 2-8 p.m. in the Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home, Liberty Center.
