Clifford ‘Thornton’ Gruber, 75, Liberty Center, died Sunday in Heller Memorial Hospital, Napoleon.
He retired as a tool and die maker at the American Motors Corporation, Toledo, in 1962 after 40 years.
The deceased was born September 24,1899 in Liberty Center, the son of Clinton and Bessie (Livensparger) Gruber.
He was a member of the Liberty Center Lodge 518 of F. and A. M., a former member of the Liberty Center School Board, former mayor and council member and a member of the International Association of Machinists Union 105, Toledo.
Surviving are his wife, Ethel; two sons, Bruce, Liberty Center, Richard, Bremerton, Washington; three stepsons, Oliver Harter, Bangkok, Thailand, Darrel Harter, Toledo, and James Harter, San Leander, California; one daughter, Mrs. Lloyd (Eleanor) Baun, Delta; one brother, Ruel, Waterville; two sisters, Mrs. Harry (Lillian) Shepler, Whitehouse, and Mrs. Thomas (Katherine) Smith, Darien, Connecticut; 14 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and three step-grandchildren.
Friends may call at the Walker Mortuary, Napoleon, from 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. Tuesday. Masonic Memorial Services will be conducted Tuesday at 8 p.m. in the mortuary.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the mortuary with Reverend William Krugh, Millbury, officiating. Interment will be in Young Cemetery, Liberty Center.
The family suggest that memorials may be made to the Masonic Scholarship Foundation.
