Bruce Gruber, 73, of Liberty Center died Saturday at the Fulton County Health Center in Wauseon.
Born Oct. 16, 1921, he was the son of Thornton and Mary (Klaar) Gruber. On Jan. 9, 1943, he married Jean Cunnigham, who preceded him in death on Sept. 2, 1975.
He was a former U.S. Navy veteran of World War II and worked as a foreman and office worker at Johns-Manville in Waterville. He was a member and past commander of V.F.W. Post #6596 in Liberty Center, past master of F&AM Lodge #518 in Liberty Center, past worthy patron of the former Pacific Chapter #63 OES in Liberty Center, Liberty Center United Methodist Church and Schuller's Quarter Century Club in Waterville.
He is survived by a daughter, Barbara Carter of Liberty Center; a son, Daryl of Highland, Mich.; a sister, Eleanor Baun of Delta; a brother, Richard of Belfair, Wash.; five grandchildren; and four great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Clifford and Robert; and three sisters, Helen, Alice and Roberta.
Services will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at the Wright Funeral Home in Liberty Center, Rev. Martin Denes officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center, where military services will be conducted by the V.F.W.
Visitation will be after 2 p.m. today at the funeral home. There will also be a Masonic Service today at 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to a charity of the donor's choice.
