Charles A. Graner, a lifelong resident of Liberty Center, passed away at his home Tuesday following a heart attack which occurred on Monday while he was walking uptown.
Mr. Graner, one of five children, was born on May 9, 1876, in Liberty township. He was a retired merchant and laborer, having spent 58 years on the volunteer fire department of Liberty Center. He was also a member of the board of directors of the Liberty State Savings Bank.
On May 20, 1898, he was united in marriage with Pearl Woodward and to this union were born three children: Opal Frankforther; Ercel Shoemaker and Alice Iona; the latter two preceding their father in death.
He is survived by the companion of these 57 years; the daughter; eleven grandchildren; twenty great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mrs. Della Warner and Mrs. Jennie Blair, and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the Liberty Center Methodist church, with Rev. David L. Eichar officiating. Friends may call at the home, previous to that time to pay their respects. Burial will be in Young's cemetery. Walter's funeral home is in charge of arrangements.
