Charles F. Gillan, 62, of 155 Northcrest Drive, Napoleon, was dead on arrival at Heller Memorial Hospital Saturday afternoon, alter suffering an apparent heart attack.
He was born May 3, 1918, in Dixon, Illinois, the son ot George and Laura (Cross) Gillan. On April 23, 1960, he married Frances lde, who survives.
Also surviving are his mother, in Greenville, Illinois; a stepson, Melvin Ankney, Liberty Center; a stepdaughter, Mrs. William (Betty) Van Dyke, Alvorton; a brother, Joseph, Greenville, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Robert (Rose Mary) Eschlimen, Fairfield, California; 13 grandchildren and 23 greatgrandchildren.
Mr. Gillan was a turn line operator tor Fulton Tubing, Archbold, retiring from there in 1978. He and his wife owned the former Lamplighter Restaurant, Liberty Center.
An Army veteran of World War II who served six years in the South Pacific, he was a member ot Napoleon Post #8218 of Veterans of Foreign Wars.
Services will be conducted Wednesday, 1 p.m., at Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center. The Reverend Donald Rashley, Liberty Center Wesleyan Church, will officiate, and burial will be in Youngs Cemetery. Military graveside services will be held by the VFW Post.
Calling will be after 7 p.m. tonight or Tuesday afternoon and evening at the funeral home. The family suggests any memorials be made to the American Heart Association.
