N. he continued to serve scores of long standing patients and friends.
Dr. George was a lifelong resident of Northwestern Ohio. He was born in Belmore, November 30, 1896, the son of William George and Lida Fisher George. He was married to Miss Margaret Miller of Belmore on June 18, 1923.
Always deeply interested in his community and its people, he served on the Liberty Center Board of Public Affairs for many years. He held the office of Henry County Health Commissioner from 1946-1965. He has been President of the Liberty Center State Savings Bank since 1948.
He was a Veteran of World War I, a member of Gilbert Baughman Post of the American Legion, Liberty Center, and of the Henry County Chapter of the Veterans of World War I.
His professional affiliations include the Henry County Medical Society and the American Medical Association.
Besides his wife Margaret, he is survived by a son, William, of Maumee, O; and a 1 daughter, Mrs. Burdette (Mary Lou) Frysinger; and five grandchildren.
Brothers: John of Deshler, O.; Noel, of Columbus, O.; sisters Mrs. Nana Brown of Ottawa, O. and Mrs. Delia Murray of Ashtabula, O. A daughter, Jeanette Anne preceded him in death in 1926 at the age of six months.
Services were conducted Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the Wesche Funeral Home by the Rev. Lester Litton of the Liberty Center United Methodist Church of which he was a member. Burial was in Young's cemetery, Liberty Center.
Dr. George was not a "home and buggy” doctor of legendary fame, but he has taken his place with Dr. D. E. Haag, as a general practitioner, a family doctor, who served his community “Above and Beyond the call of duty.” The testimonial reception given for him upon his retirement drew hundreds of appreciative patients and friends from all northwest Ohio and beyond.
