Obituary:
Walter L., son of George and Eva Furney, was born in Toledo, Feb. 18, 1897, and grew to manhood in that city. He enlisted on Dec. 10, 1917, in the U. S. A. Medical Corps, was assigned to duty at Camp Greenleaf, Ga., afterward being transferred to Camp Johnson, Jacksonville, where he was stricken with pneumonia and died Oct. 14, aged 21 years, 7 months and 26 days.
He leaves a father, mother, and brother, also many other relatives to mourn his departure.
Before his parents left Camp Johnson with the remains there was given them a handsome tribute from Walter’s comrades and many friends.
A brief service was held at the home of the parents in Liberty Center where the remains were held pending interment, by Rev. D. E. Martz. Interment in Young’s cemetery.
