William S. Fry, 83, of Liberty Center, died Friday at Henry County Hospital.
Born December 8, 1901, in Harrison Township, he was the son of Sherman and Hattie (Spitznaugle) Fry. He married Inez Scribner on December 10, 1927, and she survives.
Mr, Fry owned Fry’s Restaurant in Liberty Center for three years. In the 1930’s, he was the Liberty Center marshal, then worked for Liberty Center Township for 27 years. Mr. Fry retired in 1968 and later opened a bicycle repair shop in his home.
He was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church, a member of the former Knights of Pythias Lodge in Liberty Center, and a retired volunteer fireman.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Burdett, of Kosciusko, Mississippi; a brother, Henry, of Tawas, Michigan; two sisters, Mrs. Mabel Sallah, Pontiac, Michigan, and Mrs. Victor (Edna) Wallace, Toledo; four grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Services were held at 1 p.m. today at Croll-Wright Funeral Home, Liberty Center. The Reverend Ed Beale officiated, and burial was in Youngs Cemetery.
The family suggests any memorials be made to the American Cancer Society.
