Carl E. Frankforther, 80, of Toledo, OH, passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2003. Carl was a loving husband of 51 years, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He was born on June 29, 1922, to Vern and Naomi Frankforther in Maumee, OH. He was a WWII veteran, watchmaker and machinist. Carl was employed by Galeena Jewelers, Napoleon, Rathbun Jones/Machinery Builders and Teledyne throughout his career. He enjoyed woodworking with the Black Swamp Woodcarvers, where he received numerous winning ribbons for his carvings. He enjoyed playing beautiful melodies on his dulcimer. He enjoyed tinkering in his garage and was known to all as "the man who could fix practically anything". He was a long term member of Bethel Assembly of God in Perrysburg.
Surviving are two sons, Wade (Cathy) of Burlington, IA, Mark (Michelle) of Toledo; grandchildren, Jennifer, Jason, Eric, Amy and TJ, and great-grandchildren, Sydnee, Skylar and Dillon; brothers, Selbert and Leroy. He was preceded in death by his father and mother, and his loving wife, Estell; son, Jerry and brother, Richard, Eric, and Bernard "Bud" and sister, Opal.
Carl's family will receive visitors from 3-8 p.m. Thursday in Maison-Dardenne-Walker Funeral Home, 501 Conant St., Maumee, where funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Friday. Interment will take place in Young Cemetery, Liberty Center at 2:30 p.m. Those wishing to make a contribution in Carl's name are asked to consider Bethel Assembly of God Church.
