Ivan E. Eversole, 66, one of Liberty Center’s leading grocers for over 35 years, passed away in Mercy Hospital, Toledo, Saturday morning.
Mr. Eversole was a very civic-minded businessman and supported many organizations and improvements for the village. He started in business in 1920 with B. A. Jennings and continued until 1955 when he sold out to L. M Barlow.
During the 1930s he was in partnership with Russ Hardy and Vane Saul.
He served on the village council for a number of years and was secretary-treasurer of the Civic Club. He also served as treasurer for the village homecoming for a number of years.
He was a member of the IOOF , the Gleaners and Knights of Pythius.
He is survived by his wife, Jessie; daughters, Mrs. Elizabeth C. Anspach and Mrs. Evelyn I. Levin of Toledo; a brother J. W. Eversole of Detroit and five grandchildren.
Liberty Center business houses closed for an hour each day in tribute to both of these prominent and civic-minded businessmen.
