Lorraine Evans, 79, of Liberty Center died Friday morning, April 10, 2009, at Heartland of Waterville.
Lorraine was born Sept. 17, 1929, in East Chicago, Ind., to the late Charles and Gertrude (Tackett) Roberts. She married Allen Edward Evans on Nov. 24, 1949, and he preceded her in death on Nov. 14, 2005.
Two brothers, Ray Kenneth and Ford Roberts; two sisters, Evelyn Roberts-Biggs and Vonna Sue Roberts; and son-in-law, Billy Gary Williams, also preceded her in death.
Mrs. Evans retired in 1982 after more than 30 years of employment with the Campbell’s Soup Co., Napoleon. A devoted woman of faith, she was a member of First Baptist Church in Napoleon. Lorraine enjoyed sewing, quilting and had a passion for cooking meals for kin and church family. She will be fondly remembered as a humble and loving caregiver.
Those left to cherish Lorraine’s memory include two daughters, Sharon (Andy) Brendez, Napoleon, and Vickie Williams, Liberty Center; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and one sister, Sonja (Larry) James, Ashland, Ky.
Visitation will be Monday from 2-8 p.m. in the Wright-Hobbs Funeral Home, Liberty Center, where funeral services will be conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, April 14, 2p09. The Rev. Tom Reynolds will preside, and burial will follow at Youngs Cemetery, Liberty Center.
