Ira Carlton Ernst, son of Benjiman and Barbara Ernst, was born near Ridgeville Corners, Henry county, Ohio, June 4, 1877, and and at this place he was reared to manhood. He was united in marriage with Miss Hattie Bollman December 3, 1903, and to this union were born two children, one daughter, Geraldine, and one son Walter Amon, who preceded his father in death nine years.
Being of an ambitious disposition Mr. and Mrs. Ernst were soon able to obtain a home for themselves, at which place he departed from this life to the life beyond May 31, 1918.
A few years ago under the pastorate of Rev. Masters he accepted Christ as his savior. In this faith he worshiped with the United Brethren of Liberty Chapel. He loved the church and Sabbath school, loyal to his Christian faith. It was always his aim to do the right.
He was a devoted and affectionate husband and father, a loving son and brother and a faithful friend to all.
He leaves to mourn their loss a wife and daughter, his aging father and mother, five brothers and a host of friends. One sister preceded him and death.
