Mrs. Hattie A. Ernst, nee Clymer was born in Henry County, O., on July 22, 1873, daughter of the late George and Elizabeth Clymer and departed this life following an extended illness on May 15, 1958 at her home in Liberty Center. She had attained the age of 84 years, nine months and 23 days.
On May 26, 1893 she was united in marriage with Elgar Ernst and to this union was born six children. One son, Donald, died previously and the companion departed this life in 1954.
When she was seventeen years of age she was converted and United with Christ’s Evangelical Church, Napoleon, O., and later after her marriage when they moved to Liberty Center she accepted the Liberty Center Methodist Church as her church home. She was also a member of the Berean Class and of the WSCS. In later years when health failed she was made a member of the Home Department of the church.
Surviving are sons, Cyril, Carl, and Dale Ernst of Liberty Center; Gordon Ernst of Toledo; and one daughter, Mrs. Bessie Hoyt of Liberty Center. Also surviving are brothers, Cyrus Clymer of Liberty Center, Raymond Clymer of Bay City, Mich.; sisters, Mrs. Alva Tuttle of Serling, Ill.; Mrs. Edna Burk of Toledo and Mrs. Eva Bollman of Grabill, Ind.; 15 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.
Funeral services were conducted from Walter’s Funeral Home, Liberty Center on Saturday, May 17 at 2 p.m. with David L. Eichar, pastor of the Liberty Methodist Church officiating. Burial was in the Young's Cemetery.
