Edgar L. Ernst, 84, passed away at his home Tuesday morning after a prolonged illness.
He is survived by his wife, Hattie; daughter, Bessie Hoyt; sons, Cyril, Carl, and Dale, all of Liberty Center, and gordon, of Toledo. He also leaves 15 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at Walter’s funeral home thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. David L. Eichar officiating, and burial in Young’s cemetery.
Obituary
Edgar L. Ernst was born in Bucyrus, O., Jan. 23, 1870, the son of Benjamin and Barbara Ernst. The family moved to Henry county where he lived most of his life. He was a member of the Christian Union church.
He was united in marriage to Hattie Clymer, and to this union were born six children, one daughter and five sons. One son, Donald, preceded his father in death. Surviving are: the companion of those years; daughter, Mrs. Bessie Hoyt. and sons, Carl, Cyril and Dale, of Liberty Center, and Gordon, of Toledo.; two brothers, George and Mel; fifteen grandchildren, nine great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.
Mr. Ernst had been a familiar figure on the streets of Liberty Outer during the past number of years as he was the carrier of mail from the train to the post office.
Death is a step which we all must take if we are to see God. It releases for us the door which binds us to the use of our bodies which ofttimes are racked with pain and filled with infirmities. In other words death is a release from this world and its cares, opening for us the door to eternal life.
Services were held at Walter's funeral home Thursday afternoon at 2 o’clock, with Rev. David L. Eichar officiating. Burial was in Young's cemetery
