Sherman C. Dunmire Sept. 28, 1905 - Sept. 10, 1995
Sherman Dunmire, 89, of Liberty Center died Sunday at Henry County Hospital.
Born Sept. 28, 1905, in Liberty Center, he was the son of Ira and and Phoebe (Murdock) Dunmire. On June 1, 1963, he married Edna Smith, who survives. He was a gang foreman for Norfolk and Western Railroad until he retired in 1970. He served two years on the Liberty Center Village Council and was mayor of Liberty Center from 1980-1984.
He is also survived by two daughters, Leola Schiple of Napoleon and Becky Snyder of Liberty Center; two stepdaughters, Anne Vannoller of Benzonia, Mich., and Edna Buhl of Walled Lake, Mich.; three stepsons, James Downs of Defiance, Sherman Downs of Jacksonville, Fla., and Melvin Ankney of Napoleon; a sister, Ruth Trupening of Adrian, Mich.; two granddaughters; 15 step-grandchildren; 17 step great-grandchildren; and a step great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, Lawrence, Marion and Olen; and a sister, Bessie Dunmire.
Services will be Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. at Wright Funeral Home in Liberty Center, Rev. Martin Denes officiating. Interment will be at Youngs Cemetery in Liberty Center.
Visitation will be today from 7-9 p.m. and Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the funeral home.
