Auto Crash Fatal To K. R. Dickerson
Services were held Tuesday afternoon for Kenneth R. Dickerson, 44, of Liberty Center, who was fatally injured in a two-car crash on Rt. 24 just east of the Damascus bridge late Friday afternoon.
Mr. Dickerson was traveling west and attempted to pass a truck. He swerved to avoid an oncoming vehicle and collided with a car driven by Ona L. Glassford, 47, of Grand Rapids.
Mr. Dickerson suffered a fractured pelvis, head cuts and internal injuries. He was rushed to Heller Memorial Hospital in Napoleon. He passed away about noon Saturday.
Mr. Glassford suffered head and chest injuries and was later released from the hospital.
Mr. Dickerson, well known in the Liberty Center area, waa an emloyee of the Bunting Brass and Bronze Co., of Toledo. He served in the Pacific area during World War II and was a member of the local VFW.
He is survived by his wife, Alice; daughter, Judy; brothers, Harry of Toledo, Claude of Crissey, Orville of Delta and Clyde of Adrian, Mich.; sisters, Mrs. Florence Anglemyre, Texas, O.; Mrs. Evelyn Langenderfer, Berkey, and Mrs. June Langenderfer of Delta.
The Penrod Mortuary of Delta was in charge of the services with Rev. David Elchar officiating.
Burial was in Young’s Cemetery, Liberty Center, O.
Obituary:
Kenneth Raymond Dickerson, son of the late Harvey and Mildred (Bowman) Dickerson, was born Oct. 15, 1911, in York Township, Fulton County, O., and departed this life following a traffic accident of June 1, at the Heller Memorial Hospital, Napoleon, O., on June 2 about noon. Kenneth had attended the York Township schools and school in Henry County.
On Sept. 2, 1939 he was united in marriage with Alice Young and to this union was born one daughter, Judy.
He served in the field artillery from Feb. 6, 1943 to Nov. 27, 1945 and was discharged as technical sergeant. Since then he worked at the Bunting Brass & Bronze Co. in Toledo. He was a member of the UAW-CIO Local 14, the VFW of Liberty Center and had attended the Reformed Church.
The family lived in Liberty Center since 1945.
He is survived by the companion and daughter above named and the following: brothers, Harry, Toledo; Claude, Crissey; Orville, Delta; Clyde, Adrian; sisters, Mrs. Florence Anglemyre, Texas; Mrs. Evelyn Langenderfer, Berkey, and Mrs. June Langenderfer, Delta, and many other relatives and a host of friends.
Services were conducted at 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 5 at the Penrod Funeral Home in Delta with the Rev. David L. Eichar, pastor of the Liberty Center Methodist Church, officiating. Interment was in Young’s Cemetery, Liberty Center.
